Hi everyone and welcome to January’s edition of the Rector’s Blog.

I hope you have all enjoyed a restful and relaxing holidays and we are very happy to welcome you back to school for the new start in 2022.

We are very pleased to be returning to face to face classes on Monday, 17th January and we are confident that this decision, taken with extensive consultation with various stakeholders as well as adherence to government guidelines and recommendations, will help to keep the community safe and secure, as well as maintaining the highest possible standards of education for our students.

In the face of the challenges of COVID-19, it is absolutely vital that we continue to abide by the biosecurity protocols and standards including wearing face masks, regular handwashing and maintaining social distancing, remember,……. “I take care of you, you take care of me”.

As the situation is ever changing, please stay aware of any updates from us here at TES as we will be providing regular communication as the circumstances evolve.

A new year is a time for new resolutions where we can think of our goals, dreams, targets and, more importantly, what we need to do in order to fulfil them. This will normally consist of breaking your objective down into smaller parts to achieve it piece by piece and then thinking of who else can support you in this goal.

Additionally, you will need perseverance, patience and positivity, being willing to learn from your mistakes and understanding that the journey to achieve your goals is just as important, if not more so, than the actual goal itself.

Speaking of goals, at TES, we have a variety of interesting projects ahead of us this year, including the Council of International Schools accreditation visit. This has been a long journey which began several years ago and has involved many different aspects of the school including leadership, academic and administrative sections, student well-being, facilities, community involvement and much much more.

The process has involved a self-study which consisted of focus groups meetings, developing new policies, various videos and many members of the community participating, culminating in us sending our TES report to CIS (Council of International Schools) in  December, ready for the visit which is from the 29th of January until 4th of February this year.

This process has helped us reflect, collaborate, grow and improve and really demonstrates the value of the journey itself being so crucial. However, we hope this is not the end of the journey. This accreditation is really important to the school because it provides an international benchmark in the standards of excellence that we aim to reach, and we are very confident and optimistic we will have a successful visit and allow us to move forward together with success and belief.

We will be providing updates over the next few days and weeks about the CIS process and we look forward to sharing this journey with the whole community.

We will do all we can here at TES to support our entire community in achieving their goals, dreams and objectives, both in and out of school.  I hope you have a fantastic start to 2022 and we look forward to seeing you very soon.

Thank you very much.
